Music
One of Townley Church's biggest assets is our music program. Visitors to Townley offer positive comments on our wonderful music program.
As the sign in front of the church often reads:
Come and hear our choirs.
The Chancel Choir, led by Edna Bailey, Music Director, provides music leadership for each worship service from October to June, with special music during the Christmas and Easter seasons.  The Easter cantata is presented as our annual Lenten program.  Various members of the choir provide music for summer services as well as Sundays in September.  We are thankful for the dedication and faithfulness of this wonderful group of musicians who are so generous with their time and talent!
Our children's choirs meet each Sunday after Church School.  These choirs sing for Christmas and Easter services, and periodically throughout the year.

We are grateful to every choir member for the ministry of music which is provided with each devotion to our congregation!

On January 20, 2002, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of Edna Bailey as choir director and organist at Townley.  A special service was held in Edna's honor as well as a luncheon immediately following the worship service.  The big surprise of the day was the choir's presentation to Edna:  "We Will Sing a Song to the Lord," an anthem commissioned by Don Besig and Nancy Price in Edna's honor.

We Will Sing a Song to the Lord
Our 2008 Easter Lenten music program was a compilation of several Easter anthems, selected by Edna Bailey, Music Director.  Each anthem was a reflection on the final days of Jesus' life, and ultimately at the cross.  Edna selected the name of this year's music offering:  At the Cross

At the Cross was testimony to the hard work of Edna Bailey and the Townley Chancel Choir.

Thank you, Edna, for your continued dedication to a fine music program at Townley Presbyterian Church

* The Townley choir regularly sings anthems written by Pepper Choplin.  Pepper's Once Upon a Tree, an Easter cantata, has been performed by the choir twice.
