There are two things (among others) that have brought me blessing this month. First, the historical novel by Anne Rice (of late Vampire fame) called, Out of Egypt. Ms. Rice has returned to her Christian (Roman Catholic) roots and has used all her great talent to produce a profoundly reverent work that is also very instructive and entertaining. What more could you ask for? It follows the boy Jesus, in his seventh year, as his family leaves Egypt, returns to Galilee, and visits Jerusalem for Passover (twice). Jesus struggles to get answers to facts about who he is from family members reluctant to tell him that, already, innocents have died, and an ultimate calling has been prophesied over him. Anne Rice (Sister Rice) has done her homework so that this work embodies the very best knowledge we currently have regarding the historical Jesus. For example, did you know that Jesus may well have been able to speak three languages?
In addition to enjoying Out of Egypt, I've been taking notes on it and "blogging" on our new 'members' web site. [Jim Norton created and maintains the Townley Church website that is great for non-members and visitors.] All church family members who use the Internet are urged to join at mychurch.org (click on the link to visit mychurch.org). This website has the potential to significantly improve the communication among members. More anon, but that's all I have room for now. God bless you and yours.
