We're trying something new at Townley. At the annual congregational meeting we were told that we have a budgeted expected deficit of around $50,000. That, of course, is unacceptable. A group will be meeting on Saturday mornings to make sure this church-threatening projection does not come true -- we're very confident. In fact, the latest treasurer's report indicates that we are doing better than that already.
We'll meet on Saturday mornings -- the same way we did to organize our terrific response to Hurricane Katrina. The morning will be divided into four half-hour sections as follows: 8am Breakfast; 8:30 Mission Brainstorming and Planning; 9:00 Bible Study; 9:30 Stewardship (holding the church lovingly in our hands together). I've also called this last half hour "Fun-Raising" -- with its obvious allusion to fundraising -- though it might also mean expense reduction, right? We have lots of ideas and options already. Cynthia Manno and Bob Harrison are crunching numbers to help us understand and then interpret our needs to the congregation. We are fortunate to have a Lord-loving and talented Certified Public Accountant in Jon Finne also.
You are invited and encouraged to attend any single half hour, or combination, or ALL. We need to pray, study, brainstorm and act together to hold Townley in the palm of our hands gently and firmly, and lovingly. Come, come, come. You'll be glad you did. So will God.
Saturday June 7, 14 & 20 from 8:00 - 10:00. Come, be a hero for God! It will be fun!
Peace,
Chris
